Drag Racing Run Comparison & Trend Analysis

Your runs are a season-long experiment. The comparison and trend tools turn that data into answers: which DA you run best in, whether the new converter actually helped, and how the car responds across temperature ranges. Personal bests, condition-corrected averages, and side-by-side run comparisons, all on one page.

Personal bests per car

Every car has a PB ET and a PB MPH, surfaced on the dashboard and on the car's detail page. The PB record links to the actual run — so you can re-open the time slip, the weather, and the gauges from that pass in one click. Want to know what your fastest run actually looked like? It's two taps away.

Per-track PBs are tracked separately. Your PB at Bandimere is a different record from your PB at Pomona, because the elevations and surfaces are different worlds. The Tracks page lists every track you've raced at with the best run from each.

Season trend chart

The trend chart on the runs page plots ET (or MPH, or 60-foot) over the season. You can color-code by DA bucket to separate cool-air runs from hot-air runs, filter to one car or one track, and zoom in on a single weekend.

The chart also overlays a rolling 5-run average so day-to-day noise doesn't drown out the trend. If you tuned the car in mid-July and the rolling average dropped 0.07s, the chart shows it. If it didn't, you'll see that too — useful when you're deciding whether to keep a setup change or roll it back.

Side-by-side run comparison

Pick two runs from the run list and the app shows them side by side: ETs, splits, atmospheric conditions, gauge temps, dial-ins, and notes — laid out so you can see exactly what's different. Same DA, different ET? Look at the trans temp delta. Same gauges, different ET? Look at the wind. Same everything, different ET? Probably tree luck or surface variability, and now you have the data to say that with confidence.

Condition-corrected ET

The predictor doesn't just predict future runs — it can also "back-cast" your runs to a standard condition. Pick a baseline DA (say, 2,500 ft) and the chart can re-plot every run as the ET it would have been at that baseline. Now you're comparing the CAR, not the weather. This is the cleanest way to see whether a setup change actually moved the number.

Free accounts see the raw trend chart. Pro accounts get the corrected view, which is one of the most-requested features by serious bracket and sportsman racers.

Split analysis

The runs page can plot 60-foot times, 330-foot, 660-foot, and 1000-foot incrementals alongside the final ET. Useful when you're trying to figure out where time is being made or lost. A new converter that improved your 60-foot from 1.04 to 1.02 should show up on the chart — and if the final ET dropped half as much as the 60-foot did, you know the back half didn't come with you.

Section times (60–330, 330–660, 660–1320) are extracted from logbook pages automatically and stored per run, so back-half/front-half analysis is possible across your whole season.

Maintenance correlation

The maintenance log (engine refreshes, oil changes, tire / transmission rebuilds) is timestamped against the car's total run count. The trend chart can overlay maintenance events as vertical lines, so you can see whether ET shifted after a refresh — and how many runs since a service is left before you should plan the next one.

Example: how it works in practice

Given

You ran 9.42 at 134.1 in June at 5,800 ft DA. You ran 9.61 at 132.4 in August at 7,100 ft DA. Same car, same track. Were you slower in August, or just running in worse air?

Result

Pick both runs, hit Compare. The side-by-side view shows the ETs differed by 0.19s, DA differed by 1,300 ft. The predictor's slope for your car is about 0.00015 s/ft. Expected DA contribution: 1,300 × 0.00015 = 0.195s. The two runs are essentially identical once corrected for air. You're NOT slower in August. Toggle the "corrected to baseline DA" view to see both runs render at 9.42 — confirming the car hasn't changed.

Frequently asked questions about run comparison

Can I compare runs across different cars?

Yes. Pick any two runs and the comparison view shows them side by side. The atmospheric and timing columns line up; the car-specific fields (gauge temps, dial-in, RPM) display next to each other for inspection.

How does the rolling-average smoothing work?

The trend chart calculates a centered 5-run rolling mean (2 before, current, 2 after) so the smoothed line responds to real shifts but ignores single-run outliers. Less than 5 runs in scope falls back to a simple mean.

Can I export comparison data?

CSV export carries every column for every run, so you can do any custom analysis in a spreadsheet. The corrected-ET column ships in the export for Pro accounts.

Will deleting runs affect personal bests?

Yes. PBs are recomputed every time a run is added or removed. If you delete your PB run, the next-fastest run takes the slot automatically.

Can I compare across tracks fairly?

The corrected-ET view is the right tool. Raw ET comparison across tracks is misleading because elevations and surfaces differ. Once you set a baseline DA and let the predictor correct each run to it, the car's performance becomes track-independent (within the accuracy of the regression).
